Selection process

  1. 1Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region) – BOAT (SR) will prepare a shortlist from online application data.
  2. 2Shortlisting will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification as applicable to the respective disciplines.
  3. 3Shortlisted candidates will be intimated through their registered Email ID.
  4. 4Shortlisted candidates must appear for Certificate Verification at TNSTC Trichy Region Office (Fourth week of September 2026, tentatively).
  5. 5No TA/DA will be paid for attending certificate verification.

Application guide

How to apply

  1. Visit the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal: https://nats.education.gov.in
  2. If you are a new user (Category C), click ‘Student’ → ‘Student Register’ and complete the application form. A unique 12-digit Enrolment Number (ATN…) will be generated.
  3. If you are an existing user on the old portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) (Category A), go to https://nats.education.gov.in → Click ‘Student’ → ‘Student Login’ → ‘Forgot Password’ → Enter registered email ID to get activation link and reset password. Then login with new password and complete the application form.
  4. If you are already enrolled on the new portal (www.nats.education.gov.in) (Category B), login directly with your email ID and password.
  5. After login, under ‘Apply against advertised vacancies’, search for the desired TNSTC/MTC/SETC corporation (e.g., ‘TAMILNADU STATE TRANSPORT CORPORATION VILLUPURAM LTD’, ‘TNSTC KUMBAKONAM’, ‘TNSTC SALEM SALEM REGION’, ‘TAMILNADU STATE TRANSPORT CORPORATION MADURAI LTD MADURAI REGION’, ‘TAMIL NADU STATE TRANSPORT CORPORATION LTD TIRUNELVELI REGION’, ‘METROPOLITAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION CHENNAI LTD’, ‘STATE EXPRESS TRANSPORT CORPORATION TN LTD’).
  6. Click ‘Apply’. Status will show as ‘Applied’.
  7. Upload B.E/B.Tech/Diploma/BA/BSc/BCom/BBA/BCA Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Mark Sheet. Percentage of marks is mandatory – enter in the ‘% of marks / CGPAx10’ column.
  8. No TA/DA will be paid for attending certificate verification. No boarding/lodging expenses are admissible.
Documents and additional conditions

Training Duration: One year as per Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973. Eligibility – Passed Year: Candidates who passed during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 & May 2026 are eligible. Domicile: Candidates must be hailing from Tamil Nadu. Previous Training/Experience: Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973, and/or having one year or more experience are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply. Reservation: Guidelines under Apprentices Act on Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwD will be followed. BC/MBC candidates claiming OBC (Non-creamy layer) must bring OBC(NCL) certificate in approved format. Vacancy Variation: TNSTC Corporations may increase or decrease the number of vacancies irrespective of what is mentioned in the notification. No Employment Obligation: Upon completion of apprenticeship, TNSTC/MTC/SETC have NO obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim right for employment. Marks Entry Mandatory: Candidates must compulsorily enter percentage of marks in the ‘% of marks / CGPAx10’ column in the NATS portal. If % of marks is not furnished, candidature will not be considered. Beware of Touts: BOAT (SR) has not authorized any individual/organization to coordinate or liaise. Candidates should beware of touts. Canvassing: Canvassing/pressuring through any source will disqualify the candidature.
