Selection process
- 1Eligibility: Candidates must have cleared the Written Round of UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2024 (Mechanical/Electrical discipline), appeared for UPSC ESE 2024 Interview, but were NOT recommended for final selection by UPSC, and must have consented to sharing marks information on UPSC’s website.
- 2Shortlisting: Applicant lists shall be prepared in decreasing order of marks scored in UPSC ESE 2024 (out of 1200) for Mechanical/Electrical discipline, category-wise, based on number of positions advertised.
- 3No Separate Exam/Interview: Only UPSC ESE 2024 Score (out of 1200) will be used for recruitment. No separate written examination and no separate personal interview will be held by MECL.
- 4Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Candidates must bring original valid UPSC ESE 2024 Result/Score card along with other relevant documents.
- 5Offer of Employment: If documents are found suitable and matching with advertisement criteria, offers of employment shall be issued.
- 6Tie-Breaking: In case of identical scores, (1) Seniority in Age (as per Matriculation certificate) will be considered first; (2) If tie persists, higher aggregate percentage in Essential Engineering Degree will be considered.
- 7Medical Fitness: Appointment is subject to being declared medically fit by a Govt. Medical Officer/CMO of Govt. Hospital.

- Click on the Online Recruitment Portal link available from 01.08.2026 to 14.08.2026.
- Register on the Online Recruitment Portal by filling all mandatory details including valid e-mail ID and mobile number.
- After successful registration, login to the Online Recruitment Portal.
- Click on ‘Apply for a Post’ and fill the online form with all relevant details accurately.
- Upload scanned self-attested documents: Passport size photograph (JPG/JPEG, 50KB), Signature (JPG/JPEG, 20KB), Caste/Community Certificate (PDF, 300KB), PwBD Certificate if applicable (PDF, 300KB), Ex-SM Certificate if applicable (PDF, 300KB), UPSC ESE 2024 Scorecard (PDF, 300KB), ID Proof including Aadhaar Card (PDF, 300KB), and Proof of Payment of application fees if applicable (PDF, 300KB).
- Pay application fee of Rs. 500/- (for General/OBC/EWS candidates) through Online Payment/Net-Banking to MECL Bank Account or via QR Code available on MECL website. SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Serviceman/Departmental candidates are exempted from fee.
- Submit the application and take a printout of the system-generated application form for future reference.
- Candidates working in Central Govt./State Govt./PSUs/Autonomous bodies must apply through proper channel or furnish NOC at the time of document verification.

Other Important Information: Organisation: MECL is a Mini-Ratna-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. Recruitment Source: Recruitment is through UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2024 – targeting non-recommended candidates who qualified the written stage and appeared for interview. Training Period: Selected candidates will undergo one year training as Executive Trainees at initial Basic Pay of Rs. 40,000/- per month. Probation: Appointees will be on probation for 01 year from date of joining, extendable at the discretion of the Appointing Authority (maximum by one year). Benefits: HRA, Allowances (cafeteria approach), PF, NPS, Performance Related Pay, Group Medical Insurance, MECL-Employee Defined Contributory Superannuation Scheme, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Term Insurance, two/four-wheeler vehicle loan, and house building advance. Security Bond: Executive Trainees must execute a bond of Rs. 1.8 Lakhs to serve for a minimum of 36 months. A deduction of Rs. 5,000/- per month will be made as retention/security deposit, refundable (without interest) on completion of 36 months. Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. Crucial Date: 01.08.2026 for determining all eligibility criteria including Age, Qualification, and Category status. Jurisdiction: Any legal proceedings shall be instituted in Nagpur (Maharashtra State) courts/tribunals/forum only. ODL Degrees: Open and Distance Learning (ODL) degrees are not permissible for these posts. CGPA Conversion: Candidates with CGPA/OGPA must indicate equivalent percentage as per their University/Institute norms and produce proof at document verification. Multiple Applications: Only the Online Recruitment Application with the higher ‘Application Number’ shall be considered in case of multiple applications for the same post. Posting: Trainee officers may be posted at any MECL Projects/Offices/Establishments located anywhere in India.
