Selection process
- 140 Objective Type Questions (40 marks) + 1 Essay Type Question (20 marks)

- 5Candidates called for Stage-II in ratio of 1:3 of notified vacancy based on Stage-I merit

- 10After clearing Stage-I and Stage-II, candidates are sent for medical examination at Railway Hospital in ratio of 1:1 of notified vacancies in merit order.
- 11Candidates must be declared medically fit by Railway Medical Authority as per prescribed medical category for the offered post.
- 12DV call will be tentatively within 10 days from publishing of result of written examination.

How to apply
- Visit the official website of RRC/ER Kolkata (www.rrcer.org) and click on ‘Online/E-Application for Scouts & Guides Quota/2026-27’.
- Click on the ‘New Registration’ link and fill in personal information (Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Community, Email Address, Mobile Number).
- On submission, an e-mail/SMS will be received with Registration Number and Password.
- Login using the Registration Number and Password sent via e-mail/SMS.
- Upload scanned copies of Photograph, Signature and LTI, self-attested certificates for Date of Birth, Educational/Technical Qualifications, Caste (SC/ST/OBC/EBC/EWS), Income Certificate, Self-declarations for OBC and Minority candidates, and Scouts & Guides achievements.
- Fill up all mandatory fields of the Application Form.
- Pay the examination fee online using Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
- Submit the properly filled application form and take 2 copies of the printout.
- Note the Unique Application Number generated for future reference.

Other Important Information: Scouts & Guides Qualification (Mandatory for both Level-1 and Level-2): Candidate must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder; active member of Scout Organization for last 5 years; attended two events at National/All Indian Railways level AND two events at State level. Reservation: Open to all candidates. SC/ST/OBC/ESM/PwBD candidates get age relaxation as admissible in general open market recruitment. Age Relaxation: Serving Railway employees (min. 3 years service): UR-40 yrs, OBC-43 yrs, SC/ST-45 yrs. Widows/Divorced Women: UR-35 yrs, OBC-38 yrs, SC/ST-40 yrs. PwBD: Additional 10 years. Ex-Servicemen: Service rendered + 3 years (min. 6 months attested service). Quasi-Administrative office staff: 5 years or service rendered, whichever is less. CCAA (Level-1): UR-33 yrs, OBC-36 yrs, SC/ST-38 yrs plus apprentice training period (max. 3 years). Proof of Age: Birth Certificate / 10th Class Certificate / 10th Admit Card / Mark Sheet indicating date of birth from a government recognized Education Board. Examination Language: Hindi or English (candidate’s choice). Free Travel: Eligible SC/ST candidates will be issued Free Railway Travel Authority (Second Class/Sleeper Class) for Written Examination and Document Verification. No TA/DA/Accommodation will be provided for appearing in the Written Test. Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices are strictly prohibited inside the examination premises. Serving Government Employees must submit a No Objection Certificate from the appropriate authority. Legal Jurisdiction: Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal, Kolkata. Caution: Eastern Railway has not appointed any agent or coaching center. Candidates are warned against fraudulent claims by unscrupulous persons/agencies. Typing Proficiency: Persons appointed as Clerk-cum-Typist must acquire typing proficiency of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi within 2 years of appointment. Economically Backward Classes (EBC): Family income less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum. Minority Communities: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsi).
