Selection process

  1. 1Trial of Sports Performance: Short-listed eligible candidates will be called for a sports performance trial. The Trial Committee will assess game skill, physical fitness, and coach’s observations during trials and award marks out of a maximum of 40 marks. Candidates securing 25 or more marks will be declared FIT; those below 25 marks will be declared NOT FIT.
  2. 2Interview and Assessment: Only FIT candidates from the trial stage will be called for an interview by the Recruitment Committee. The Recruitment Committee will award marks out of 60 for sports achievements and educational qualifications. Interviews will be held on the same day or the next day after trials.
  3. 3Marks Distribution (Total: 100 Marks): Game skill, physical fitness & coach’s observations during Trials: 40 Marks Assessment of recognized Sports Achievements as per norms: 50 Marks Educational Qualification: 10 Marks

  3. Read all instructions carefully before filling the application form.
  4. Fill in personal details, sports achievements, educational qualifications, and active mobile number and valid email ID.
  5. Upload recent colour passport photograph (3.5cm x 4.5cm, 30-70 KB, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI).
  6. Upload scanned signature (3.5cm x 2.5cm, 20-50 KB, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI).
  7. Upload all required documents: educational qualification certificate, sports achievement certificate (on or after 01/04/2024), date of birth proof, caste/EWS certificate (if applicable), income certificate (if applicable), minority self-declaration (if applicable), NOC (if applicable).
  8. Pay the application fee online (Rs. 500 for general

Documents and additional conditions

Other Important Information: Sports Achievement Period: Sports achievements in recognized championships/events held on or after 01.04.2024 shall only be considered. The sportsperson should be an active player currently. Posting: Selected candidates may be posted in Divisions (Alipurduar, Katihar, Rangiya, Lumding & Tinsukia) or Headquarter of NF Railway as per requirement. Probation Period: All candidates appointed through Sports Quota will undergo a probation period of two years. Service Bond: Selected candidates will have to sign a Service Bond requiring them to serve for at least 5 years in Indian Railways. No TA/DA: No travel allowance, daily allowance, or accommodation will be provided for appearing in selection trials. Candidates must bring their own kit and four passport size photographs. No Reservation: There is no reservation for any community in this recruitment. However, SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates must submit relevant caste certificates. NOC Required: Candidates already employed in government service, PSU, or recognized banks must submit a No Objection Certificate from their current employer. Technician-III Training: For sports quota appointees in Technician-III posts, the training period is 3 years unless they possess ITI qualification in the relevant trade (in which case it is 6 months). Application Fee Refund: Candidates who appear for selection trials will be entitled to a partial refund of the application fee (after deduction of banking and other charges). Legal Jurisdiction: For any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be of Central Administrative Tribunal/Guwahati. Canvassing: Canvassing in any form will lead to summary rejection and cancellation of candidature. Trial Dates: Dates for trials and other stages will be intimated through the official website www.nfr.indianrailways.gov.in. EBC Definition: Economically Backward Class means candidates whose total family income is less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum. OBC-NCL Certificate Validity: OBC-NCL certificate more than one year old will be treated as invalid. EWS Certificate Validity: EWS certificate more than one year old will be treated as invalid.
