Selection process
- 1Talent Scouting Quota: Candidates who have represented the country in Olympics or in any relevant Category-B championship, or secured at least 3rd position in Category-B championship within last 6 months from notification date, will be considered without trials (subject to provisions in para-6.3 of RBE 189(B)/2010). Only 3 such candidates in order of overall merit will be considered.
- 2Open Advertisement: If no suitable Talent Scouting candidate is found, all vacancies will be filled as per Open Advertisement norms.
- 3Sports Trial: 40 marks (minimum 25 marks must be secured to be declared ‘FIT’).
- 4Assessment of Sports Achievements: 50 marks maximum.
- 5Educational Qualification: 10 marks.
- 6Minimum Aggregate Marks Required: Level-5/4: At least 70 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial). Level-2: At least 65 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial). Level-1: At least 60 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial).
- 7Level-5/4: At least 70 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial).
- 8Level-2: At least 65 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial).
- 9Level-1: At least 60 marks (including minimum 25 in Trial).
- 10Selection is purely merit-based. There is no relaxation/reservation of any kind to any community.
- 11The Venue & Date of Trials and Interview/Certificate Verification will be intimated to eligible candidates via CLW official website.
Application guide
How to apply
- Fill up the application in prescribed format as per Annexure ‘A’ on good quality A-4 size white paper after carefully reading the Employment Notice.
- All columns of application should be filled up by the candidate in his/her own handwriting in English/Hindi using blue/black ball point pen.
- Applicant should write in his/her own handwriting the sample declaration statement in the space provided in the application form.
- Applicant should firmly affix one recent (taken within one month) colour passport size photograph (without cap and/or coloured glass) with white background on the application.
- Send 02 (two) photographs duly signed on the back along with the application form and keep at least 05 (five) same photographs for future use.
- Enclose legible photocopies (Xerox) of all Certificates in proof of Educational Qualification, Age, Caste Certificate and Proof of Sports Achievements duly attested by any Gazetted Officer or Self-Attested.
- Enclose application fee (IPO/Bank DD) as applicable. Applications without application fee will be rejected.
- Clearly indicate the Specific Category No., Sports Discipline and Event/Position as given in Para-2.
- Write on the top of the envelope: ‘APPLICATION AGAINST SPORTS QUOTA (OPEN ADVERTISEMENT & TALENT SCOUTING) RECRUITMENT FOR THE YEAR 2026-2027’.
- Send application by post to: Chief Personnel Officer, Administrative Building, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, PO- Chittaranjan, District-Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal, Pin Code-713331. OR drop directly in the Drop Box placed at Dy.GM’s Office/CLW during office hours.

Documents and additional conditions
Sports Eligibility: Applicants should be currently active players with sports achievements on or after 01/04/2024. Age Limit: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 25 years as on 01/01/2026. No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBDs. Period of Reckoning Sports Achievements: Current and previous two financial years (on or after 01/04/2024). Sports Disciplines: Archery (Men – Recurve), Archery (Women – Compound), Badminton (Women – Singles), Badminton (Men – Singles), Basketball (Men), Basketball (Women), Golf (Men), Football (Men), Gymnastic (Men – All Round Apparatus), Gymnastic (Women – All Round Apparatus), Swimming (Men – Free Style), Swimming (Women – Free Style), Shooting (Men). SC/ST Candidates: Eligible for free rail travel in Second class for attending Sports Trial/Interview. Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must pass requisite medical fitness standard prior to appointment. Typing Proficiency: If appointed as Junior Clerk-cum-Typist, candidate must acquire typing proficiency of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi within 4 years from date of appointment. Jurisdiction: Any dispute regarding this recruitment will be subject to the jurisdiction of High Court of Calcutta. Caution: CLW has not appointed any agents or coaching centers. Recruitment is purely merit-based. Canvassing in any form will attract disqualification. Right to Cancel: CLW reserves the right to cancel or modify the recruitment process at any time without assigning reasons.
