Selection process

  2. 2Shortlisting of Applications: Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) shortlists applications based on CLAT PG 2026 score and vacancy-to-call-up ratio. Shortlisting expected in the second week of September 2026.
  3. 3Selection of SSB Centre and Date: Shortlisted candidates log in to the website and select their SSB Centre and date on a first-come-first-serve basis. SSB Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Jalandhar (Punjab).
  4. 4SSB Interview (Five Days – Nov/Dec 2026): Two-stage selection process: Stage-I: Screening test. Candidates who clear Stage-I proceed to Stage-II. Those who fail are returned on Day 1. Stage-II: Detailed assessment over remaining days.
  5. 5Stage-I: Screening test. Candidates who clear Stage-I proceed to Stage-II. Those who fail are returned on Day 1.

How to apply

  2. Click on ‘Officer Entry Application/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (skip if already registered).
  3. Fill the online registration form carefully after reading all instructions.
  4. After registration, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard.
  5. A page ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open. Click ‘Apply’ shown against Short Service Commission JAG Entry Course.
  6. Fill in all required details: Personal information, Communication details, Education details, and previous SSB details.
  7. Save and continue each segment before proceeding to the next.
  8. Review the summary of information and verify all details carefully.
  9. Click ‘Submit’ only after confirming correctness of all details.
  10. Take out two copies of the application with Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on the last day.
  11. Carry self-attested copies and originals of all required documents to the Selection Centre.
  12. Candidates serving in Armed Forces must inform their Commanding Officer in writing and carry countersigned application to SSB interview.

Other Important Information: Type of Commission: Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) for JAG Branch. Gender: Open to Unmarried Male and Unmarried Female Law Graduates. Nationality: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India (with eligibility certificate from GoI where applicable). Training: 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, commencing April 2027. Stipend: Rs. 56,100/- per month during training. Post-Training Rank: Lieutenant on commissioning. Tenure: Short Service Commission for 14 years (initial 10 years extendable by 4 years). Option for Permanent Commission after 10 years. Release options: after 5, 10, or 14 years. CLAT PG 2026: Only CLAT PG conducted in December 2025 is valid. No other CLAT PG score accepted. Physical Standards (Men): 2.4 km run in 10 min 30 sec, 40 push-ups, 6 pull-ups, 30 sit-ups, 2 sets of 30 squats, 2 sets of 10 lunges per leg, basic swimming. Physical Standards (Women): 2.4 km run in 13 min, 15 push-ups, 2 pull-ups, 25 sit-ups, 2 sets of 30 squats, 2 sets of 10 lunges per leg, basic swimming. Post Graduate Diploma: Successful candidates awarded ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by University of Madras. Army Group Insurance: Insurance of Rs. 1.25 Crore during training. Monthly AGIF subscription: Rs. 12,500/-. Cost of Training Recovery: Rs. 20,482/- per week if withdrawn for personal reasons. Travelling Allowance: AC 3-Tier (to and fro) railway/bus fare for first-time SSB appearance for this type of commission. DIGILOCKER: DIGILOCKER certificates not accepted in lieu of original certificates. Marital Status: Candidates must remain unmarried throughout training. Marriage after application date disqualifies from training. Disqualification: Candidates withdrawn from NDA/IMA/OTA/Naval Academy/Air Force Academy on disciplinary grounds are not eligible. Candidates debarred by UPSC or convicted by criminal court are not eligible. Reserve Liability: SSCOs on release carry reserve liability to serve for 5 years + 2 years voluntary, or up to age 37 (women) / 40 (men), whichever is earlier.
