Selection process
- 1The selection process is based on a Two-Tier Examination System as per UP Government order dated 20-11-2020.
- 2Tier 1 – Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET): Objective type written examination with 100 questions, 100 marks, duration 2 hours. Negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. Exam may be held in multiple shifts/days; normalization of scores will be applied in such cases.
- 3Tier 2 – Main Examination: Candidates who qualify PET and hold a valid PET score card will be eligible to apply for Main Examinations advertised by UPSSSC for various Group C posts.
- 4PET scores are valid for 3 years from the date of result upload on the UPSSSC website.
- 5Shortlisting for Main Examinations will be based on the highest valid normalized PET score held by the candidate at the time of applying.
Application guide
How to apply
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the official website upsssc.gov.in before applying.
- Visit the official website upsssc.gov.in and go to the ‘Live Advertisements’ section.
- Login using OTR number or OTR registered mobile number.
- Enter OTP received on registered mobile number and verification code to login.
- Fill in the application form with required details (details from OTR will be auto-populated).
- Fill in additional details such as marital status, EWS, UP state employee, freedom fighter dependent, ex-serviceman, outstanding sportsperson, disability category, etc.
- Read and accept the declaration at the bottom of the application form.
- Click ‘Submit’ after entering the verification code.
- Note the 11-digit registration number from the Registration Slip.
- Click ‘Proceed for Payment’ on the Registration Slip page and pay the required examination fee via Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, or SBI e-Challan.
- After successful payment, download and print the application form. The application process is complete only after downloading/printing the form.
- Keep the Registration Slip safe for future reference.

Important Information for UPSSSC PET 2026: One Time Registration (OTR): Candidates must complete OTR on upsssc.gov.in before applying. OTR is mandatory and offline applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. OTR System: The OTR system is effective from 14-07-2026. Once registered, candidates need not re-enter basic information for future advertisements. Exam Pattern: 100 objective/MCQ questions, 100 marks, 2 hours duration. Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer. Difficulty level based on NCERT curriculum. Ex-servicemen: 3 years relaxation. Persons with Disabilities: as per UP Govt. order dated 03-02-2008 (15 years relaxation). UP State Employees: as per order dated 27-08-2013 (5 years relaxation). Outstanding Sportspersons: 5 years relaxation. Score Validity: PET scores are valid for 3 years from the date of result publication on the UPSSSC website. Application Modification: Candidates can modify certain fields (email, intermediate qualification, marital status, EWS, UP state employee, freedom fighter dependent, ex-serviceman, outstanding sportsperson, disability category, additional age relaxation) from 10-08-2026.
