Selection process

1. 1Punjabi Language Test (Qualifying): Candidates must pass a Punjabi Language written test at Matriculation level with a minimum of 50% marks. Failure to secure 50% will disqualify the candidate.
2. 2Physical Eligibility Test (Qualifying): Candidates must pass a Physical Eligibility Test comprising 5 components. A candidate must successfully complete at least 3 out of 5 components to qualify. Male: (a) 30m Flying Start ≤5 sec, (b) Standing Broad Jump ≥1.40m, (c) Shuttle Run 6x10m ≤17.50 sec, (d) Bend & Reach ≥2cm, (e) 1600m Run ≤8 min Female: (a) 30m Flying Start ≤5.80 sec, (b) Standing Broad Jump ≥1.20m, (c) Shuttle Run 6x10m ≤18.50 sec, (d) Bend & Reach ≥2cm, (e) 1600m Run ≤9 min 30 sec Note: Divyang (Persons with Disability) candidates are exempted from the Physical Eligibility Test.

6. 6Written Test (Departmental): A state-level objective multiple choice written test of 70 marks in the relevant subject.
7. 7Merit List: Final merit is based on combined score out of 100 marks: Written Test: Maximum 70 Marks Sports Achievement (Gradation): Maximum 30 Marks (Grade A=30, Grade B=25, Grade C=10, Grade D=5)

10. 10Tie-breaking: In case of equal marks, the older candidate gets preference. If age is also equal, the candidate with higher percentage in professional degree/qualification gets preference.
11. 11Sports Quota: For candidates applying under sports quota, Punjab Sportsmen Recruitment Rules, 1988 shall apply; sports achievement weightage does not affect sports quota candidates.

How to apply

1. Visit the official website: erd.punjab.gov.in
2. Click on the ‘New Registration’ link and fill in the required details.
3. Once registered, login using your Registration Number and Password.
4. Click on the ‘Application Fee’ link and pay the fee online.
5. After fee confirmation, fill in the Application Form completely.
6. Upload a recent passport size photo (2.5×3.5 inches, white background, no cap/goggles, 80% face visible including ears), a postcard size photo (4×6 inches), scanned signature, and scanned thumb impressions of all fingers of both hands on white paper.
7. After submission and approval, take a printout of the Application Form and keep it safe.
8. No documents need to be sent by post; documents will be required only at the time of scrutiny.
9. Only one registration per candidate is allowed; if multiple registrations are made, only the first will be considered valid.
10. A candidate can apply in only one category.
