Selection process

  1. 1Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the State Eligibility Test (JKSET/LASET-2026) to be held on 25th October 2026 (Sunday).
  2. 2The examination will be conducted in 41 subjects at three main centers: Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh.
  3. 3The test consists of two papers: Paper-I (General Paper – Subject Code 00) and Paper-II (Subject-specific paper).
  4. 4Visually Impaired (VI) candidates will be allowed compensatory time: 20 additional minutes in Paper-I and 40 additional minutes in Paper-II.
  5. 5Candidates qualifying JKSET/LASET-2026 will be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges of UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, and also for admission to Ph.D.
  6. 6Qualified candidates will be required to submit documents for physical verification as per the schedule notified separately by the University.
  7. 7Issuance of JKSET/LASET Eligibility Certificate shall be subject to successful verification of eligibility, educational qualifications, reservation status, and other relevant documents.

How to apply

  2. Register by providing Username, Mobile Number (preferably WhatsApp Number), Email Address and Password.
  3. Login and fill in all required particulars in the online application form including Personal Details, Academic Qualifications, Examination Centre Preference(s), and Subject for JKSET/LASET.
  4. Upload required documents: recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG), scanned signature (JPG/JPEG), valid Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable), Domicile Certificate, and Bonafide Certificate (if pursuing Masters).
  5. Pay the prescribed non-refundable examination fee exclusively through the online payment gateway integrated with the Online Application Portal.
  6. Download and retain the fee receipt, application form, and transaction reference number for future reference.
  7. Ensure Application Status shows ‘Fee Received’ after 3 days of payment.
Documents and additional conditions

Other Important Information: Examination Centers: Three main centers — Kashmir (Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla), Jammu (Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, Bhadarwah), and Ladakh (Leh & Kargil). Subjects: The test is conducted in 41 subjects including General Paper (Paper-I), Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Languages, and more. Reservation Policy: Governed by S.O. 176 dated 15.03.2024 (UT of J&K for JKSET) and S.O. 77 dated 27.06.2025 (UT of Ladakh for LASET). Candidates claiming reservation under other States/UTs shall be considered under Open/Unreserved Category. PwBD Provisions: Visually Impaired candidates allowed compensatory time (20 min in Paper-I, 40 min in Paper-II) and scribe facility. Candidates with benchmark disabilities unable to write independently may avail scribe and compensatory time with prior written request at least one week before examination. Provisional Admission: Candidates appearing in qualifying Master’s Degree examination may apply provisionally with a Bonafide Certificate. They must complete PG Degree with prescribed marks within two years from JKSET/LASET result declaration. Ph.D. Relaxation: Candidates with Ph.D. whose Master’s level examination was completed on or before 19 September 1991 are entitled to 5% relaxation (55% to 50%). Fee Non-Refundable: Examination fee once paid shall neither be refunded nor adjusted under any circumstances. No Change of Centre: Requests for change of Examination Centre after submission of application form shall not be entertained. Hard Copy: Candidates are not required to submit hard copies before the examination. Only qualified candidates will be called for document verification.
