- 2Paper-I: Screening Test: 1-hour CBT/Offline MCQ test, 100 marks (GK of HP-30, National/International Affairs-30, Hindi-20, English-20). Qualifying in nature only; does not count toward final merit. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong/blank answer.
- 3Paper-II: Subject Aptitude Test (SAT): 3-hour descriptive test, 120 marks, based on subject-specific syllabus. Conducted on the same day as Paper-I. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% (General), 40% (Reserved categories).
- 4Document Verification: Original documents checked for candidates shortlisted as per category-wise zone ratio (1:5 for 11+ posts
- 51:5+3 for up to 10 posts).
- 6Personality Test: 30 marks, held only at HPPSC office, Shimla. Minimum pass marks: 40% (General) / 30% (Reserved categories).
- 7Final Merit List: Based on SAT (120 marks) + Personality Test (30 marks) = 150 marks total.

How to apply

- Click on the “Apply Online” link on the homepage.
- Select “One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations” and complete “New Registration” if not already registered.
- Log in to the OTR account and view the list of live advertisements on the dashboard.
- Select the relevant subject advertisement (e.g., Hindi – 47/6-2026, History – 48/6-2026) and fill in the application form.
- Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including Matriculation certificate, degree/marksheets, category certificate, and Bonafide HP certificate.
- Pay the Rs. 600 application fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or other digital mode.
- Give the undertaking confirming that uploaded documents are legible and readable, then submit the final application.
- Download or save the confirmation/printout for future reference.

Other Important Information: Advertisement Numbers: 22 separate notifications numbered 34/6-2026 to 55/6-2026, each for a different subject. Separate Applications Required: Each subject requires a separate Online Recruitment Application (ORA) on the HPPSC OTR portal. Age Relaxation: 5-year relaxation in upper age limit for Bonafide SC/ST/OBC of HP, Ward of Freedom Fighters of HP, and Persons with Disabilities of HP. HP Government employees and Ex-Servicemen get relaxation as per separate government instructions. Relaxation applies only if the post is reserved for that category in the specific subject. Qualification Relaxation: 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) at Master’s level for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and Physically/Visually Handicapped candidates. Also available to Ph.D. holders who completed Master’s before September 1991. NET/SLET/SET Exemption: Ph.D. holders are exempted from NET/SLET/SET requirement if Ph.D. was awarded in regular mode, evaluated by at least two external examiners, included an open viva-voce, and is supported by at least two published research papers (one in a refereed journal) plus two conference presentations. SET-2026 Candidates: Candidates who qualified SET-2026 are eligible to apply; the application window will be reopened if SET-2026 result is declared after the regular closing date. Category-Wise Reservation: Vacancies are sub-divided into UR, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories with sub-quotas for Ex-Servicemen (Ex-SM), Ward of Freedom Fighters (WFF), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (Hearing Impaired, Orthopedically/Physically Handicapped, Visually Impaired, and Intellectual or Multiple Disability) wherever applicable. Answer Key Objection: Candidates may raise objections to Paper-I answer key within 5 days of publication with a fee of Rs. 100 per question. Salary Basis: Pay structure follows Department of Personnel notification No. Per(AP)-C-B(15)-3/2024 dated 19 July 2025. No Corrections After Submission: Once the application is submitted, no corrections or modifications are permitted (except category change under specific rules).
