Selection process

  1. 1Stage 1 – Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025): Candidates must have appeared in PET-2025 and obtained a score card issued by UPSSSC. Candidates with zero or negative normalized/absolute scores will not be shortlisted.
  2. 2Stage 2 – Shortlisting for Main Examination: Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their normalized scores in PET-2025. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted, including all candidates up to the final cutoff normalized score (up to 2 decimal places).
  3. 3Stage 3 – Written Main Examination: A single written paper of 100 objective/multiple-choice questions, duration 2 hours (120 minutes). Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking of 25% (i.e., ¼ mark) for each wrong answer. The paper consists of: Part-1: Physics (10), Chemistry (10), Biology (10), Mathematics (10), Forensic Science (25) = 65 marks
  4. 4Part-2: Computer & IT (15 marks)
  5. 5Part-3: General Knowledge of Uttar Pradesh (20 marks). Total: 100 marks.
  6. 6Normalization: If the exam is held in multiple shifts/days, normalization of scores will be applied as per the procedure published on 22 May 2019 (Notice No. 42/05/Vigya. Anu. (Eleven)/2019).
  7. 7No Interview: Selection is based solely on the written examination as per UP Group ‘C’ Direct Recruitment Rules, 2015 and UP Lower Level Posts Direct Recruitment (Abolition of Interview) Rules, 2017.
  8. 8Final Selection: Based on merit in the Main Examination, subject to document verification and fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

Application guide

How to apply

  1. Visit the official website upsssc.gov.in and click on the relevant advertisement under the Live Advertisement Segment on the Homepage.
  2. Login using your PET-2025 Registration Number via OTP sent to your registered mobile number/email.
  3. Verify your personal details auto-populated from PET-2025 registration (name, father/husband name, mother name, category, date of birth, gender, etc.).
  4. Select the post(s) you wish to apply for and fill in educational qualification details including board/university name, year of passing, certificate/roll number, date of issue, and marks obtained.
  5. Enter the verification code and click the Submit button to generate your application with an 11-digit registration number.
  6. Upload/verify photo and signature (auto-populated from PET-2025; no changes allowed).
  7. Fill in preference of posts and preferred qualification details in the ‘Other Details’ section.
  8. Read and accept the Declaration by ticking all checkboxes, enter verification code, and click ‘Save and Submit’.
  9. Pay the application fee via Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking/UPI or SBI e-Challan as per instructions on the website.
  10. After successful fee payment and reconciliation, the application will be auto-submitted. Download and print the application form for future reference.
  11. If needed, modifications can be made till 24-08-2026 via the ‘Modify Application’ option on the Applicant’s Dashboard using OTP verification.
Documents and additional conditions

Total advertised vacancies: 208 posts across various cadres under the Office of Forensic Science Laboratory, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and have been issued a score card by UPSSSC are eligible to apply. Candidates marked as ‘Under Investigation (UI)’ or ‘Provisional’ in PET-2025 results may apply provisionally; their shortlisting and selection will be subject to the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Reservation: SC, ST, OBC, EWS (10%), Women, Ex-Servicemen, Dependants of Freedom Fighters, Divyangjan (4% horizontal), and Outstanding Sportspersons as per UP Government rules. EWS candidates must possess an EWS certificate issued between 01-04-2026 and 17-08-2026, based on income of FY 2025-26, valid for FY 2026-27. Age relaxation of 5 years for employees already serving in state subordinate services (as per GO dated 27-08-2013). Date of birth as per High School (Class 10) certificate is the only valid proof of age. Candidates currently serving in Central/State Government must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer. Only one application per candidate is allowed; if multiple applications are submitted, only the last submitted application will be accepted. Exam fee for the Main Examination will be collected separately from shortlisted candidates before downloading the admit card. Disability categories identified for horizontal reservation: O.L. (One Leg Affected), Dw. (Dwarfism), A.A.V. (Acid Attack Victims). Candidates with more than one living spouse are not eligible to apply unless exempted by the Governor. The UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act-2024 (dated 06-08-2024) will be applicable to this examination.
