Selection process

  1. 1Preliminary Examination (Praarambhik Pariksha): Objective type MCQ-based exam of 2 hours duration. Total 120 questions (3 marks each). Subjects: General Studies (30), Jharkhand State Knowledge (60), General Mathematics (10), General Science (10), Mental Ability (10). Negative marking: 1 mark deducted per wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: Unreserved/EWS: 40%, SC/ST/Female: 32%, EBC-I: 34%, BC-II: 36.5%, Primitive Tribe: 30%. Note: Preliminary exam may be skipped if total applicants are less than 50,000.
  2. 2Main Examination (Mukhya Pariksha): Based on Preliminary Exam merit, candidates equal to 15 times the total vacancies are shortlisted for Main Exam. Main Exam consists of 3 papers (each 2 hours, 3 marks per question, negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer): – Paper 1 (Language Knowledge): Hindi (60 Qs) + English (60 Qs) = 120 Qs. Qualifying in nature (minimum 30%). Marks not counted for merit. – Paper 2 (Regional/Tribal Language Knowledge): 100 MCQs from chosen language (Hindi/English/Urdu/Santhali/Bengali/Mundari/Ho/Kharia/Kudukh/Kurmali/Khortha/Nagpuri/Panchpargania/Odia/Sanskrit). Minimum 30% required. – Paper 3 (General Knowledge): 120 Qs covering General Studies (30), Jharkhand Knowledge (40), General Science (20), General Mathematics (10), Mental Ability (10), Computer Knowledge (10). Minimum 30% required. Merit determined on combined marks of Paper 2 + Paper 3.
  3. 3Document Verification: After Main Exam, shortlisted candidates’ documents are verified. Final selection based on merit-cum-option.

How to apply

  1. Visit the official website: www.jssc.jharkhand.gov.in
  2. Click on ‘Online Application for JILCCE-2026’ and complete Registration.
  3. After registration, Registration Number and Password will be sent to your mobile and email. Note them carefully.
  4. Log in again using Registration Number and Password and fill in detailed information. Save and Continue each page.
  5. Pay the examination fee online.
  6. Upload scanned photograph and full signature.
  7. Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.
  8. Verify all information before final submission. Incorrect declarations may lead to cancellation of candidature.
  9. Correction window available from 21-08-2026 to midnight of 23-08-2026 (except name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number).
Documents and additional conditions

Other Important Information: Exam Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT) / OMR based. Normalization will be applied if exam is held in multiple shifts. Age Relaxation: PwD candidates get additional 10 years relaxation. Ex-servicemen get 5 years relaxation. Only one type of age relaxation (PwD or Ex-serviceman) is applicable. Sports Quota: Reservation for sports quota as per Resolution No. 1709 dated 12-09-2007 (available on JSSC website). Scribe Facility: Available for eligible PwD candidates (Blind/Low Vision, Locomotor Disability both hands, Cerebral Palsy) with 40%+ disability. Request must be submitted at least 15 days before exam date. Post Preference: Candidates with more than one educational qualification can give preference for multiple posts in order of priority through the online application. Vacancy Numbers: The number of vacancies may increase or decrease as per requisition from concerned departments. Domicile Certificate: Required for all reserved category candidates. Must be issued by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) level on or after 02-06-2016, or by Anchal Adhikari level on or after 19-07-2019 in prescribed format. Caste Certificate: Must be in prescribed format issued by competent authority. OBC certificates issued for Central Government appointments are not valid. EWS Certificate: Income & Asset Certificate issued by competent authority (Dy. Commissioner/SDO/Anchal Adhikari) in prescribed format (Annexure-VII) required. Re-evaluation: Candidates can apply for re-evaluation within 7 days of result publication with a fee of Rs. 500/-. Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, pagers, Bluetooth devices, and any electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. Admit Card: Will be uploaded on the JSSC website. Candidates must download it. Admit cards will not be sent by post.
