- 12th pass with at least 50%marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; OR
- 12th pass with at least 45& marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education with NCTE; OR
- 12th pass with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education 9B.El.Ed.); OR
- 12th pass with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education); OR
- Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

A selection List will be prepared based on the marks scored in the written examination, weightage marks and the rule of reservation of appointment as per Tamilnadu Government Servants.

- Part- A and Part- B two OMR-based examinations are conducted.
- Part A 30 objective-type questions are conducted for 30 marks.
- The Duration of the examination will be 30 minutes.
- The 10th level question is asked in this examination.
- Part- B 150 objective-type questions conducted for 150 marks.
- The Duration of the examination will be 3 Hours.
- Passing marks for BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/SC/SCA/ST is 45 marks and For General Category is 60 marks.
